Birthdays and Bathtime!

I have two birthday cards to share with you today, both made with SU! Party Hearty, and both using some of Taylor's Anniversary Cupcake Challenge Sketches!!

The first one is using Worldwin Doublemates cardstock, and an Imaginisce striped paper, as well as SU! rhinestone brads.

This one uses SU! Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette cardstock, paper and ink. I dazzled up the cupcake on both cards using Dazzling Diamonds glitter from SU!

And now for your daily dose of baby . . . we gave him his last bath in his ducky tub tonight. Tomorrow will be the regular bathtub for the first time!!!

Make sure you click on these, especially the second one, to see them bigger--the water droplets are so cool!!!

Well, my dh just got the call that tomorrow is another snow day (the roads are still SO icy here . . . ) so that will make a one day work week for him this week and a SIX DAY WEEKEND!! :-) What a nice vacation!

Black Magic??

Hi there. I tried the technique challenge from SCS this week. It was called Black Magic. I am not sure how I feel about it. I think it is interesting to see stamping on black cardstock, but I felt like I was smearing the colored pencils all over, so it is not as neat as I like to stamp. Oh well, it is good to step out of your comfort zone and try new things, right? If you would like to know how to do this, see the forum on SCS, HERE, for directions.

We've been having some good sleep nights, with the baby not waking up at all. However, napping is still really iffy, so I'm not getting much stamping done. This is pretty much it for this week, other than a card for my secret sister, which I won't post for a few months, just in case she stumbles across my blog.

I hope you are enjoying some good stamp time and good family time! Take care, and--

100th Post!

I can't believe this is my 100th post! Just a few months ago, I decided to give this blogging thing a try, and here we are a few months later! I'm even closing in on 10,000 hits, which is amazing to me.

Quickly, on the baby front: the last two nights, he's only cried for about 5 minutes, so we thought things were improving. But right now I'm listening to him sob, as I have been for over an hour now! I stamped a bit, in another room where I can't hear him, but he's still at it. It is so heartbreaking, and of course now we are wondering--when will it start working?

I broke out my new Stampin' Up! sets again today. This first card uses Inspired by Nature, which is such a beautiful new set. It is so perfect, it doesn't really need much embellishment. I just added a touch of ribbon. The great thing about silhouette stamping, is that you can pretty much stamp in any color, and it will look great! This second card is using Party Hearty, which is a delightful new birthday set. I stamped the row of party hats in Tangerine Tango, then again on a scrap of white in Riding Hood Red. Then I cut out two of the red hats and glued them on top of the orange ones, so I had a row of alternating colors. SO simple! Sometimes the simplest cards stand out so much! I stuck with those two colors, and made this third card. It is just okay.

I really hope the baby stops crying soon. I should go to bed early tonight, but I took a nap with him earlier, so I'm feeling pretty good. I don't know when I'll stamp again, but please check back, because I will soon! Meanwhile . . .

Less is more?

I would love to go back and find some of the first cards I stamped. I'm sure they wouldn't compare with what I can create now, but we have to start somewhere, right? As a teacher, I tell my students the only way they can get better at something is to practice. Over the years, I've gradually added more "skills", or techniques, and LOTS of embellishments. I'm addicted to brads, buttons, ribbons, hardware, etc. Sometimes I find it hard not to put TOO much stuff on a card. So, once in awhile I like to go back to the basics, and just do a simple one layer card. That's basically what this is.

I used the stamp set Doodle This, along with Sincere Salutations. I used blender pens and classic ink from the lid of my ink pads to color in the image. If you have never done this, it is one of the easiest ways to color an image. I'll post a quick tutorial soon. I believe the red flower is popped out on a Stampin' Dimensional, so it is not truly a one layer card, but darn close! Sometimes less is more! Have a wonderful day.
